The pottery industry in Bo’ness spanned three centuries, 1784 - 1958. Bo’ness Pottery was in production for over 100 years. The last pottery to close was Bridgeness, which had remained in the McNay family for its whole 70 years of production.

Pottery production in the town lasted for almost 200 years and it reached its heyday at the end of the 19th century when three factories were in production simultaneously at Bo'ness, Grangepans and Bridgeness. With the last pottery closing as recently as 1958 the industry is still fondly remembered by many Bo'nessians.
